Incorporating Creativity Into Your Success Plan
Creativity holds great value, regardless of who you are or what you do. We are all unique and naturally creative in one way or another, but as we get older, most people neglect their creative abilities.
Thinking differently, and thinking creatively, requires energy and effort, but employing a new way of thinking will help you find unexpected solutions to challenges. Adopting a new approach will also yield different, and likely better results.
Below are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
Observe then ask how
Innovators remain observant and curious. They examine what takes place, think about cause and effect, and then explore what could be different. They ask themselves how something can change, which allows their brain to start working on a solution.
Brainstorm
Brainstorming sessions are an excellent way to explore several options. Think of as many possibilities as you can without judgment, and write them down. Start with a white board or blank piece of paper, use coloured markers, and most importantly, have fun. This is a great exercise to do alone, or with a friend or business partner.
Talk It Out
Don’t ask for everyone’s opinion about your success plan, but do talk with a trusted coach, friend, or mentor who can provide constructive feedback and give you new and creative perspectives that you haven’t yet explored. Also remember that we “can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them” (Albert Einstein).
Get Inspired
Study the habits of successful people who inspire you. What did they do to achieve success or find their way? Examining the lives of great leaders and great thinkers will force you to start thinking about how you can be better. Greatness is in all of us.
